Snow Day 2012 II

Carmela recounts her snow day for you.

Snow Day 2012

Our little city experienced the snowstorm that wasn't today, meaning there weren't white-out conditions or falling power lines or huge drifts, but there was a steady snowfall for much of the day that slowly but surely accumulated into a few inches of snow in the city and a couple of feet outside of it. It was enough, though, for Mom's work to close for the day (Mama wishes she had checked on this before getting on the bus and getting stranded downtown for a couple of hours), and the Doctors made a day of it. Carmela asked for pancakes for breakfast, so pancakes she had, and then she helped Dad make her sled. After throwing a colossal fit about putting on pants (Carmela is way into tights these days, and very much not into pants), we finally bundled up and ventured outside to run around in the snow. It was great fun. Carmela got to be pulled in her sled, got to learn a little bit about the snow (it's cold, it's soft and mushy but it gets deep enough to stick your hand into, you can make shapes out of it, &c), and got to make a snowman (the snow wasn't wet enough) and a snow angel at the park. She also got to watch Mama and Daddy have a snowball fight, and there were dogs playing in the snow, too! She even got to see someone cross-country ski through the park!

After all that fun, and running, and being cold, Carmela decided it was time to come home for some hot cocoa and chocolate chip cookies. Now, the snowfall has tapered off, the cookies are cooling on the cooling rack, the sled is resting in a puddle on the porch, the kitty is curled up on the couch, and a tuckered out Carmela is napping in her princess dress, curled up with her Cinderella book, a smudge of chocolate on her mouth. It's a pretty good day today.
