Sesame Street Live!

Carmela is a big fan of live performances. She saw her first Casper Babypants show when she under a year old, even though it was by accident while Mama and Daddy were walking through the toy store. She also is a big fan of Sesame Street, and loves to check in with her friends on The Street every evening while Mama cooks dinner. So what a great day it was when Uncle Jason got her tickets to see Sesame Street live! Carmela bundled Mama and Daddy into the car and had them drive her to Tacoma to watch Elmo, Abby, Telly Monster, and Zoe help Super Grover get his Super-ness back. She listened to music, waved to the life-sized characters, snacked on some popcorn and cheese fries with Mama and Daddy, and just had a great time all around. Thanks, Uncle Jason!

(It's hard to see what's happening on stage, but I wanted to include a couple of pictures at least so there's a sense of the brightness and colors.)

Carmela's first day

Carmela was very busy drafting an important motion at work last week, but she took a break to meet with Mama for a few minutes regarding the important matter of The People Want Some Ice Cream. We think the other side's going to settle.

Mothers Day

For Mother's Day, Carmela and Mama went to see all the fish (which Carmela still pronounces "fush") at the amazing Seattle Aquarium. It was so great! There were giant glass walls full of fish swimming around, a big glass dome with fish swimming above and all around, and little tanks with smaller fish. Carmela was not at all interested in touching a star fish in the touch tank; she was fine just looking. She also got to see a river otter floating on his back in a sunbeam ("doggy"), and she got to see three harbor seals swimming around in circles. She got to check out an octopus, too. It was lots of fun!

Carmela and Mama also got to get their pictures taken for Mother's Day. That was neat, too, but less fun than the aquarium. Octopus!

Visit with Grandma

Carmela was very excited when Grandma came to visit for a week! They got to play outside in some uncharacteristic sunshine, and Carmela got to show Grandma the ropes at her favorite playgrounds. Good times!

Trike repair

Carmela helps Abba work on her tricycle a little bit. She loves to ride up and down the sidewalk (with Abba holding onto the guide bar in the back, of course, so she doesn't get away). Her feet are finally long enough to reach the pedals; it won't be long before she's able to make it go all by herself.

We've been remiss

Mom has fallen way behind on Carmela's blog, but with good reason. We're ready to get back into the swing of things with a quick round-up of pictures from Carmela's 21st month.

Carmela enjoys some dinner with her best friend, Baby.

Carmela uses technology. She's listening to her Mommy's iPod — she takes her music very seriously — and then she makes a few phone calls on her cell phone
